Lucca Comics 2017

The popular Lucca Comics Festival will be taking place between Wednesday 1st and Sunday 5th November 2017 and this year is dedicated to the heroes of heroes.

The Lucca Comics Festival takes place annually in the idyllic walled city of Lucca in the heart of Tuscany (not far from Pisa). It is hugely popular with an international crowd and focuses on published comics and video game characters, with the theme in 2017 being heroes of heroes.

During the 5-day event, nearly 1000 events are planned throughout the city, including Activision at Piazza Santa Maria and electronic outlets allowing guests of the festival to play Destiny II and Call of Duty: WWII. Blizzard Entertainment will also be presenting at the festival, with Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm, and there will be spaces where you can buy collectables, including rare comics and Pokemon cards. There will also be a special exhibition at Palazzo dell’Illustrazione dedicated to Raphael Lacoste, one of the industry’s most important designers, who was one of the creators behind Assassin’s Creed.

The event is being coordinated by a team of executives, including Lucca’s Mayor (Alessandro Tambellini), the President of Lucca Crea (Francesco Caredio) and Giovanni Russo from the Museum of Cartoon Design. There will also be a side festival taking place until November 11th, called B-Comics: History of Lucca Comics & Games, which will take place at Cassa di Risparmio Pistoia and Lucchesia (Piazza San Michele).
